How to be Successful in Structure Class

Are you PBI students who always worry about your understanding or your score in structure class? Now, you do not need to worry anymore because there are the some solutions to make you successful in this class. Structure class is important and essential in learning English, especially for PBI students who are expected to master English. In this class, you learn how to use correct English structure in sentences. Moreover, structure class is helpful for you in order to learn other subjects. If you are not good in understanding English structure, you will find it hard to understand other subjects, such as listening, speaking, writing, and reading. The three major steps involved in being successful in structure class are always being present, being active, and practicing a lot.

The first step to be successful in structure class is always being present. As you know, there are a lot of materials in structure class. You have different developing materials in every meeting. If you are absent, if you are absent, you will have nothing since you miss the lecturer’s explanation on the new materials. Besides, you will not know whether there is any quiz or not in that meeting. As you have experienced, there are some sudden quizzes held by the lecturer. If you miss one quiz, you will miss one point of your score because quizzes also affect your final mark of this class. In order to be successful in structure class, you should be present so that you will not miss your lecturer’s explanation and the quizzes.

The second step is being active in the class. Structure is not an easy subject. There are a lot of complicated materials that you usually get. You may sometimes feel confused about the materials. Whenever you feel confused, you have to be autonomous to ask your lecturer. If you keep silent or passive, you will not understand the materials because the lecturer assumes that you understand the point of her or his explanation. Besides, you also need to be active in answering the lecturer’s questions in class discussion to show that you are attentively following the discussion and explanation. To appreciate your participation, therefore, the lecturer will usually give you extra points to your score. Being passive does not help you to be successful in this class. So, be active then you will achieve the success.

The third step is practicing a lot. Structure is like the math lesson. You have to practice a lot in order to understand the material well. To support practicing, you must have your own book references, such as Understanding English Grammar by Betty Schrampfer Azar, Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy, etc. If you have the books, you could do the exercises. Those exercises are very useful for you in order to understand more about the materials. You can enrich your knowledge about the structure of English by yourselves. Moreover, you could also discuss the exercises with your friends if you think that it would help you to understand. Practicing a lot is an effective way to understand English sentence structure. So, it has the biggest role in guiding you to be successful in this class.

In conclusion, in order to be successful in the structure class, there are three major steps: always being present, being active in class, and practicing a lot. Always being present is the first step that you have to do so that you do not miss any explanation or quizzes which can affect your understanding and final mark. Being active is also important for you to let your lecturer know whether you really understand the materials or not. Then, practicing a lot helps you to develop your understanding of the materials. Moreover, structure is the basic lesson to master English. That is why you should be successful here. Always being present in every meeting, being active and practicing a lot will guide you to be successful in structure class.
